Trivento Malbec Select

Trivento Malbec "Select"
Tasted at Music City Flats restaurant, Nashville, TN
$8/glass, $30/bottle

They say: Dark purplish ruby with some legs. Aroma is strongly berry-like (black, blue, raspberry), along with oak, vanilla and salt. Lots of berry in the initial taste as well, along with oak. Finish has tannins, pepper and cherry. Balanced and surprisingly mild. Full-bodied, smooth and dry. Very nice Malbec, although it does not have any elements that truly stand out, which is both a pro and a con.

Smell: So full bodied and spicy! It smells hot on the alcohol. Very strong scent of lamb and a heavy winter meal, which I've been picking up in a lot of Malbec's as of late.

Taste: Smoooooooth taste. Definitely hot on the alcohol. Spicy on the lips. A really unique Malbec. The grape is absolutely there but very complex and full. A little berry on the front end. So good! Complex and spicy but warm and a touch fruity.

Food: Had it with arugala salad and a fig and prosciutto pizza was way too sweet, but it made the wine lighter and sweeter. Definitely a hit. A very complex and interesting wine. Perfect for the meal.
