Antigua Bodega or Antigua Boohuey

Antigua Bodega
Malbec 2009
San Juan, Argentina

Tasted at: Champion Wine Cellars, Seattle, WA
Price: $13.85 a bottle

Smelled: very cedary and buttery
Tasted: LIKE TANNINS. OH MY GOD. THE TANNINS. Was bitter and almost tasted dirty. Definitely tasted the barrel.

Experts say: Smells strongly of corn, stalky fruit, herbs and grass. Mouthfeel is not a problem, although it’s a little sticky on the palate. Tastes heavily herbal and green, with an oaky covering. Short, woody and herbal on the finish.

Bottom line: Ew. As a malbec lover, this wine offended me.
